Winter holidays in the Isarco Valley (Wipptal) – Skiing at Rosskopf
The Isarco Valley lies just south of the main alpine ridge and is one of the most snow-guaranteed regions in the South Tyrol. The Rosskopf cable car station which is approximately 300 metres away from the Villa Maria, takes you up to the superb Rosskopf skiing area at an altitude of 2,176 metres. There are 16 well-prepared pistes of all grades to enjoy and for the young ones there is a children’s ski school, where the youngsters are given professional instruction by qualified ski-instructors. The sunny downhill runs offer superb views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Ski buses for the ski areas Ratschings and Ladurns are operated from the bus station 100 metres away from Villa Maria.

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find superb long cross-country skiing trails quite challenging in the Ridnaun valley, and excellent skiing trails can also be found in the Pflersch and Pfitsch valleys nearby. Snowshoe walking is also avery popular winter sport for the whole family and guided snowshoe walking tours are on offer at the Rosskopf skiing area. During the Christmas period the pleasant atmosphere of the colourful Christmas market in the medieval old town of Vipiteno is good place to visit for that Christmas feeling!
Sledging fun on Italian’s longest toboggan run
Italy’s longest snow-covered and illuminated toboggan run starts at the Rosskopf cable car station and descends 9.6 kilometres to the valley station in Vipiteno – a special highlight not to be missed.
